Gender Budgeting in Malaysia

February 12, 2014

Gender budgeting is an effective tool for advancing gender mainstreaming, and currently the main international approach to promoting equality between women and men. By considering the impact of every part of the budget on women and men, girls and boys, a gender-responsive budget (GRB) actively addresses gender gaps in budget allocations, particularly in key areas such as income, health, education, and development, and ensures that government resources are allocated where they are most needed for the
benefit of all.
