33 participants including 14 international participants from 12 countries are currently undergoing the Protection of Civilians course in the Malaysian Peacekeeping Training Centre from September 7 to 11, 2015.
Protection of Civilians consists of efforts to protect civilians from physical violence, secure their rights to access essential services and resources and contribute to a secure, stable and just environment for civilians over the long term.
This course will enhance the knowledge of those preparing for UN peacekeeping missions.
Participants range from senior officers to junior officers from the military and this blend ensures a mix of contribution and inputs during the course. Some have served UN peacekeeping missions while others are waiting to be deployed.
Senior officers are also sharing their experience from their previous missions under the UN peacekeeping force.
International participants are representing Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Lebanon, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, Sweden, Thailand and Vietnam.
