4th Edition Walk The Talk Joins UN Campaign To End Violence Against Women

Nov 26, 2015

The SIROM Walk The Talk 2015, the 4th in the series, sees several key partners uniting to end Violence Against Women. The theme for Walk The Talk 2015 “Men and Women Unite to Stop Violence Against Women” is in line with the United Nations “UNiTE to End Violence Against Women”and the #orangetheworld global campaign, to be held in conjunction with the UN 16 days of activism to eliminate gender violence. The colour orange is the official color of the campaign, symbolizing a bright and optimistic future free from violence against women and girls.

This year’s UNiTE campaign takes place with a focus on prevention, and in the specific context of the adoption of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, which includes a target on ending violence against women and girls. Over 450 ‘orange events’ are planned in more than 70 countries around the world ahead of and throughout the 16 days.

The WTT 2015 has as it’s key partners, Police DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM),  United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF), and is supported by 2 women’s organisations, WAO and AWAM.

The walk will be 3.5km starting and ending at Taman Jaya, Petaling Jaya on 5th December 2015.
